"Lucy" analyzed

In the movie “Lucy” I noticed a lot of points that are covered in the book. The way I will analyze this movie is by Character. I will go through the four main characters and tell the type of situation they are in. Then I will go through and tell what type of characters they are as classified by the book. Then i will go through and show how some large events classify them as what they are.
First, I will go through the characters-

-I believe Scarlett is involved in a crisis (mostly) not of her own making. (ch 8)  She had a boyfriend that she wasn't completely sure what he did, but then she ended up being dragged into his ordeal. The ordeal ended up her having a bag of drugs placed inside her that accessed all of her brain power eventually. The drug made her deal with the causes in the icarus Myth (ch 9). She had to deal with a drug that made her access her full brain. But the addition to her brain was as deadly as the disease. She ended up almost dissolving after not having enough of the substance.

...
The Professor begins on a quest. He is on a quest to find out what would happen if we accessed our full brain capacity. He says he has been researching this topic for years, and after a speech, lucy contacts him. She lets him know she is on a drug that accesses her full part of the brain. This is interesting because instead of an sober adult (professor) helping the young, they are both helping each other. So it is like two youth people helping each other instead of a one way deal. Professor has to deal with many types of conflict in one human being. Lucy takes medication and is controlling nature, so it is like Man Vs. Nature, But he also is dealing with her as a person, so it was man vs man as well.

Pierre, A member of the police force, plays a role that is very prominent in many literature works. He possesses a lot of christ attributes, if not Christ, then they are biblical. He ends up believing in all that Lucy has to say and quickly starts sacrificing himself for her. He Eventually gets wounded, but continues trying to fight and do the right thing for Lucy. He is also in the company of thieves. He deals with the drug cartel one on one. Pierre is also of a different race, but he still ends up helping Lucy. His actions seem very similar to a christ archetype described in chapter 12. Pierre also deals with the sexual vampirism. While he is defending Lucy, she somehow makes all the enemies freeze and levitate. Then she kisses Pierre. This makes him attracted to help her. She does this so he will have more of an urge to follow her and help her (Ch 3).

Butch Walker As Shakespeare?

All art is the same thing. It is to portray emotion and tell stories and records of what has happened, what will be seen, or in the imagination, and everything in between. I am currently in high school and have extra classes to study jazz. I am studying as a jazz guitarist. Jazz is in most cases an instrumental form of American music that sounds as if it is scatter to the modern day listener. In my personal opinion, the point of music is to make people feel something and sometimes with out having to say a word. It is to make people feel something by using a Universal language. A modern listener of most music, in most cases, is not even fully listening to the music. Lyrics mean can mean close to nothing and the music makes you feel usually only in one emotion. I am not saying this is a bad thing, I believe it is just as hard or harder to make something so simple portray an emotion. It is hard to make pop music applicable to the modern listener and make them relate with the new listening standards people have now. Pop music is its own art form and is completely different then the more complex type of music jazz. With jazz and classical on one end of the spectrum and pop on another, a general population can find a median in music that they can relate to. For jazz being the beautiful art it is and pop being the beautiful art it is, a good median is the genre of singer-songwriter. The music can make you feel an emotion and the Lyrics can tell a story and make you feel an emotion. The beautiful simplicity of the music and the beautiful lyrics can leave you in tears or posing life questions. The audience of this genre will listen because it makes them feel something and they can hear a story. In the book How to Read Literature Like a Professor, I believe Literature is not just written books, It occurs in lyrics to music as well. One of my current favorite singer songwriters is Butch Walker. Butch Walkers song “Fathers Day” is about his recent loss of his father and him experiencing fathers day without his dad, but he is being a dad himself. This beautiful, simple song uses devices that are mentioned in HTRLP.
I Made this diagram to show what topics Butch Walker used that related to the book.
This link talks about songwriting tips. Some of the tips deal with what is talked about in the book
